The conference "The Idea of Europe" was held on May 2nd, 2004 at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.

It was organised by the Information Office of the Council of Europe, the IUS et LEX Foundation and the Royal Castle museum, under the auspices of the President of the European Parliament Pat Cox, the President of the Republic of Poland Aleksander Kwaśniewski and the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Walter Schwimmer.
