20-23 May 2010, the Information Office of the Council of Europe participated at the 55th International Book Fair in Warsaw (IBF). The leitmotiv of the 55th International Book Fair was Fryderyk Chopin - on the 200th anniversary of his birth - whose life and works were presented in the form of books as well as book promotion meetings with authors, concerts, exhibitions, documentaries and creative workshops. The Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Mr Thorbjǿrn Jagland, gave his honorary patronage for the Fryderyk Chopin's Year.

The IBF was held under the honorary auspicies of the President of the Republic of Poland, hosted by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage and by the Marshal of Mazowieckie Voivoideship.
There were 493 exhibitors from 29 countries present at the Fair.

The CoE stand at the IBF – (10 m2) was organised by the IOCE. The main idea was to present and to promote the publications, activities and campaigns of the CoE. 200 publications of the CoE and the IOCE were presented on the stand.
